About Matt
Matt works as a full-time mixed-practice vet in Yorkshire, in the north of England, and has done so for over 10 years. He graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014.
Matt has a passion for large animals and exotics, and he has recently completed a certificate in exotic animal medicine.
He first appeared, along with his colleagues, on the popular television series *The Yorkshire Vet* in 2020, and has since featured on Channel 5βs *On the Farm* series, showcasing the team at Cannon Hall Farm.
“Mattβs first book, *My Life as a Yorkshire Vet*, was released on October 11, 2024. It details his life as a modern-day vet, encompassing the highs and lows of the profession, working through COVID, and continually rediscovering his passion in an ever-changing environment.”

Okay, so a lot of you have asked about this video, and yes, it was incredibly satisfying.
This little guy had managed, all on his own, to pass this bladder stone from his bladder down into his cloaca (rear opening)β¦ and unsurprisingly, it got stuck at the final hurdle. The only thing noticed beforehand was a small amount of blood when he passed a poo.
Itβs absolutely incredible he got this far, as many stones β especially at this size β require surgical removal, never mind one this mushroom shape!
Theyβre made of urate crystals and can take months, and in this case, I suspect could be years to form.
